Senior Women’s T20: Railways won the title by defeating Maharashtra in the final match of the Senior Women’s T20 tournament played on Thursday. For Maharashtra, star batsman Smriti Mandhana played brilliant innings of 84 runs in just 56 balls. Coming to bat first, the Maharashtra team got off to a great start by their opener Smriti Mandhana. Together with Shivali Shinde for the first wicket, he played a brilliant partnership of 74 runs. After Shivani’s dismissal, Maharashtra continued to lose wickets from one end but, standing at the other end, Mandhana continued to take the news of the railway bowlers. S Meghna and Hemlata’s innings made Railways champions
Like Maharashtra, their opener S Meghna also gave a quick start to the railways chasing the target. He scored 52 runs in just 32 balls with the help of 9 fours. After him, Dayalan Hemlata took his place and played the best half-century innings of 65 runs to take the team to the threshold of victory. Hemlata hit 9 fours and 2 sixes in this innings. He had ensured his team’s victory before getting out in the 17th over. After this Anjali scored an unbeaten 26 and captain Sneh Rana made an unbeaten 6 and took his team across.
