I am not looking to emulate Dhoni, Kohli, and Rohit- Jasprit Bumrah: India has appointed Jasprit Bumrah as its captain for the fifth Test match against England at Edgbaston. Due to Indian captain Rohit Sharma being Corona positive, Bumrah has been entrusted with this responsibility.
Bumrah, who has played under the captaincy of MS Dhoni, Virat Kohli, and Rohit Sharma, has made it clear that he will not copy these people. Regarding the captaincy, Bumrah said,
Dhoni, Kohli, and Rohit are the greatest players of the game and have done a lot for Indian cricket. I want to hear everyone’s advice. I want to learn something from them all, but in the end, your approach may not be like everyone else’s. I have played under many seniors and always tried to learn, but I will make my own decision.
In the five-match series played last year, the Indian team is ahead 2-1. The fifth match of the series could not be played due to Corona’s case in the Indian camp. Now the same game is being played. Apart from Rohit Sharma, the Indian team will also feel the lack of KL Rahul in this match.
Rahul is not a part of this match due to injury. England has declared their playing XI for this match, but till now, nothing has been revealed about India’s playing XI.
However, it is expected that in the absence of Rohit, Shubman Gill and Mayank Agarwal can be seen opening the Indian team. Cheteshwar Pujara and Virat Kohli are also set to play. If we talk about the bowling attack, then Mohammed Shami and Mohammad Siraj can be present to support captain Bumrah.
However, Shardul Thakur can also be given a chance in place of Siraj to strengthen the batting. Jadeja as a spin all-rounder and Ravichandran Ashwin as a specialist spinner can be given an opportunity.
