According to Gavaskar Harshal Patel can be used as a trump card for the upcoming T20 World Cup and said that the bowler must be a part of the squad.
The right-arm pacer has left a mark with his bowling for the last two years. Be it IPL or international cricket, and he is achieving success in both the shorter formats of the game.
Harshal Patel, who took 32 wickets in IPL 2021, only got a chance to debut in T20 against New Zealand last year. Since then, he has been regularly associated with the Indian team in T20.

So far, he has taken 18 wickets in 13 matches at an economy of 8.14. His best bowling performance is 4/25, which he did recently against South Africa.

Gavaskar called Harshal Patel the trump card for the T20 World Cup in Australia. The former player said a bowler like him gives the captain additional options as he can bowl in the powerplay and slog overs. They said,
He will be one of the trump cards because you also have Bhuvneshwar, Shami and Bumrah. Fantastic for a captain to have someone like Harshal who can bowl in the powerplays where people are going now with a change of pace. So yes, he should be part of the squad.
