IND vs SL 2022: Immediately after the ongoing limited over series against West Indies, Team India has to take part in another home series against Sri Lanka. For which the Board of Control for Cricket in India on Tuesday announced a change in the already fixed schedule. Now Team India played the T20 series of the first 3 matches. After that 2 test matches will be played.
The BCCI issued a statement on Tuesday saying, “Lucknow will now host the first T20 International, while the next two matches will be played in Dharamsala. The Test series will start on February 4 in Mohali. This match will be the 100th Test match of former captain Virat Kohli. The second test match will be played day-night with pink ball on March 12.
Changes made in the scheduled program
Both the Test matches of the Test series to be played between India and Sri Lanka will be part of the ICC World Test Championship, 2021-23. Before that, both the teams will face each other in the 3-match T20 series starting from February 24.
The first Test will now be played in Mohali from March 4 to 8, while the second Test will be played in Bengaluru from March 12 to 16. Earlier, Sri Lanka was to play the first Test match in Bengaluru from February 25. After which the Sri Lankan board appealed to the BCCI to organize the first T20 series, because the Sri Lankan T20 team is currently in Australia, and this would have made them easier in the bio-bubble. After which, BCCI changed the program. On the other hand, T20 International matches were scheduled to start from March 13 before the revised schedule was announced on Tuesday.
New itinerary of Sri Lanka’s tour of India:
T20 series-
1st T20I match: February 24, Lucknow
2nd T20I match: 26 February, Dharamsala
3rd T20: February 27, Dharamsala
test series-
1st Test: March 4-8, Mohali
Second Test: March 12-16, Bengaluru
The Indian team will play T20 series against West Indies from Wednesday
The Indian cricket team, captained by Rohit Sharma, will play a series of three T20 Internationals against West Indies from 16 February. All matches of the series will be played at the Eden Gardens Stadium in Kolkata. Recently, India defeated India 3-0 in the three ODI series played at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad. India defeated the Windies in the bilateral series for the 11th time in a row, which is a world record.
