The IPL 2022 season 15th will be great for everyone, as 2 new teams will join. IPL Mega auctions will also be held before the 15th edition of the Indian Premier League. The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) has confirmed that each franchise will allow a maximum of 4 players in their squad to be placed before the mega auction. And franchises have to submit the retained players list by November 30, 2021.
Here’s what you need to know about mega auctions.
Can hold a maximum of 4 players
Each IPL franchise can get a maximum of 4 cricketers. Out of these 4 players, a maximum of 2 can be foreign players.
Which teams will retain the players before IPL 2022 Auction?
- Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR)
- Chennai Super Kings (CSK)
- Delhi Capitals (DC)
- Mumbai Indians (MI)
- Rajasthan Royals (RR)
- Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH)
- Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB)
- Punjab Kings (PBKS)
How will the two new franchises pick players?
When the other 8 franchises have left players, two new franchises will be able to select 3 players each without going to the auction pool. The 3 selected players will not be available for bids from other franchises.
How much cost of retaining players be determined?
Players will be priced based on how many players their franchisees will decide to retain.
4 players: Indian 42 Cr (16, 12, 6, and 6 Cr)
3 players: Indian 33 Cr (15, 11, and 6 Cr)
2 players: Indian 22 Cr (14 and 10 Cr)
1 player: India 14 Cr
