Earlier there were reports that Shreyas Iyer would take over the command of this team, but now according to media reports, all-rounder Hardik Pandya is going to become the captain. Not only Hardik, but Rashid Khan is also going to join the Ahmedabad franchise.
Hardik Pandya will be the captain of Ahmedabad
The new IPL franchise Ahmedabad is going to make Team India’s star all-rounder Hardik Pandya the captain of its team. Both the new teams have the freedom to choose 3-3 players before the IPL 2022 auction. The last time is till 31st January. Earlier this date was till December 25 but this date was extended after a contract dispute with CVC Capitals, which owns the Ahmedabad franchise. By the way, CVC Capitals has got a clean chit from BCCI and has also been given a letter of intent.
The same old teams were given a chance to retain their 4 players. But Mumbai Indians did not retain Hardik. The reason behind this is also that, he has been battling with injuries for the last few days. Due to which neither he is able to bowl properly nor is his batting going on. However, before the IPL (IPL 2022), the Ahmedabad franchise has made up its mind to entrust him with a big responsibility. Let us tell you that Hardik Pandya has experience of 92 IPL matches and during this time 1476 runs have been scored from his bat. Pandya averages 27.33 and is considered one of the best finishers in the IPL. Apart from this, Pandya also has 42 wickets to his name and he is also an excellent fielder.
Rashid Khan and Ishaan Kishan will also be included in the team
Apart from Hardik Pandya, Ahmedabad is also going to add Afghanistan’s star leg-spinner Rashid Khan and young wicket-keeper batsman Ishan Kishan. According to media reports, Rashid’s talks with Ahmedabad have been finalized and he will be a part of his draft player. Let us tell you that Rashid Khan refused to be retained for Sunrisers Hyderabad. Rashid Khan’s IPL record is amazing. He has taken 93 wickets in 76 matches of his IPL career and the economy rate has been just 6.33 runs per over.
The same wicketkeeper Ishan Kishan can be the third draft player of the Ahmedabad franchise. Apart from his excellent wicketkeeping, Ishan Kishan is also known for his fearless batting. He has made a place in the Indian team on the basis of his identity. Ishan has scored 1452 runs in 61 IPL matches at an average of 28.47.
