Ravindra Jadeja will take over the command of the team
After resigning from the captaincy post of Dhoni, now this season Chennai (CSK) will be seen taking over the command of star all-rounder Ravindra Jadeja. Whereas Mahendra Singh Dhoni himself will continue to represent the team as a batsman and from behind the wicket. On Thursday, CSK CEO said in a statement, “Mahendra Singh Dhoni has decided to hand over the command of Chennai Super Kings (CSK) to the experienced and oldest player of the team Ravindra Jadeja. Jadeja, who has been an integral part of Chennai Super Kings since 2012, will be only the third player to lead CSK. Dhoni (MS Dhoni) will continue to represent Chennai Super Kings this season and beyond.”
Was doing regular captaincy since 2008
Mahendra Singh Dhoni has been captaining Chennai since the first season played in the year 2008. In his unavailability, Suresh Raina also captained the team in some matches. Dhoni has made Chennai the champion of IPL 4 times under his captaincy. Only Mumbai Indian captain Rohit Sharma is ahead of him. He has won the trophy a total of 5 times. CSK is also the team that has gone to the finals and playoffs for the most number of times in the 14-year history of IPL.
All the preparations were already done
The defending champions CSK will start their campaign in IPL 2022 against Kolkata Knight Riders in the final match of last season on 26 March. Before the mega auction held this year, Chennai Super Kings retained their four-star players in the form of Ravindra Jadeja, MS Dhoni, Rituraj Gaikwad, and Moeen Ali. In which star all-rounder Ravindra Jadeja was retained by paying more than Dhoni. The franchisee will pay 16 crores for Jadeja. The same, Dhoni will get 12 crores. Since then, people started speculating that Jaddu has been prepared to make Chennai the next captain.
