IND vs SA 2021-22: After being bowled out for 202 runs in the first innings of the second test match between India and South Africa (IND vs SA) in Johannesburg, Shardul Thakur made Team India on the strength of his superb bowling. used to travel 100 kilometers daily
Shardul Thakur comes from Palghar, 100 km from Mumbai. As a child, he used to travel this long distance by train daily to learn the tricks of cricket in Mumbai. But his cricketing spirit proved this distance to be absolutely dwarf.
After a few days, he started living at the house of his coach Dinesh Lad. Dinesh is one of the most well-known coaches of Mumbai. Rohit Sharma, who became the new captain of Team India in limited-overs cricket, has also been his disciple. At the same time, his son Siddhesh Lad is also a well-known face of Mumbai cricket.
I had lost 13 kg in a few months
Shardul Thakur’s body used to be very heavy in the initial days. At one time he had become 83 kg. Then former Indian fast bowler Zaheer Khan advised him to lose weight and stay fit.
Following his advice, Shardul had reduced his weight by 13 kg in a few months. After that, he became a regular member of the Mumbai Ranji team. Between 2013 and 2017, Shardul had an important contribution in making Mumbai the champion.
Luck changed after joining Chennai Super Kings
In the year 2014, Shardul Thakur was included in his team in the IPL, but he got a chance to play only 1 match here in 3 years. Due to which Shardul was also very disappointed. However, the year 2017 proved to be a turning point for him when he joined the Rising Pune Supergiant (RPSG) team. In 2018, Chennai Super Kings (CSK) took him with them. Since then Shardul never looked back.
Have made a splash for Team India
Shardul made his Test debut for Team India in 2018 against West Indies. But due to injury, he had to leave the ground in the middle match. After this, he got a chance to play the second Test match for Team India on the Australia tour for the second time in the year 2021.
Shardul Thakur has so far taken 22 wickets in 15 ODIs and 31 wickets in 24 T20s for Team India. He has taken 21 wickets in five Tests. In Tests, he has made important contributions with the bat on important occasions for the Indian team. He scored a brilliant half-century in the Brisbane Test on the Australia tour. His innings gave Team India a historic victory. Then on the tour of England, by putting fifty in both the innings of The Oval Test, he proved his batting iron.
