Team India’s star young batsman Shubman Gill has confirmed his place in Team India in Test cricket by performing brilliantly in the last few years. At the same time, in the IPL, he is seen playing for Kolkata Knight Riders.
Due to the IPL committee’s rule of retaining only 4 players before the IPL auction, the KKR franchise has not been able to retain them. After which now Shubhman Gill himself has given a big statement regarding this.
Shubman Gill wants to play for Kolkata Knight Riders
India’s talented cricketer Shubhman Gill said that he would always like to play for Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) if given an option. KKR has retained Andre Russell, Venkatesh Iyer, Sunil Narine, and Varun Chakravarthy with them.
While players like Eoin Morgan, Dinesh Karthik, Rahul Tripathi, Nitish Rana, and Shubhman Gill have been released. Gill is currently walking away from cricket due to an injury. He sustained the injury during the second test match against New Zealand in Mumbai.
Have rocked for KKR
After making a splash in the Under-19 World Cup, young batsman Shubhman Gill, who played domestic cricket for Punjab, was bought by Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) in the year 2018 for Rs 1.8 crore. He had scored 203 runs in 13 matches in the very first season at a strike rate of 146.04. But later his strike rate dropped, which led to criticism of his run-getting speed. He has added 1417 runs in 58 matches for the franchise at a strike rate of 123.
Despite falling behind in the first phase in the 2021 IPL, Kolkata Knight Riders managed to reach the final (KKR), behind which Gill (Shubhman Gill) had a big contribution. Together with Venkatesh Iyer, he gave the team a good start in almost all the matches.
However, he could not succeed in winning the team the trophy. In the final match, KKR had to face defeat at the hands of Chennai Super Kings.
