Batsmen who got out for 99 runs in IPL
1. Suresh Raina
Suresh Raina, the former star batsman of the Indian team, is popularly known as Mr. IPL. While playing for Chennai Super Kings under the captaincy of Mahendra Singh Dhoni in the IPL, Raina has played match-winning innings for the team on several occasions. Raina’s contribution has been of great importance in helping Chennai win the IPL trophy four times. During this, it happened in a match that Raina remained on the score of 99, and could not complete the century.

In fact, in 2013, he scored an unbeaten 99 in 52 balls against Sunrisers Hyderabad for Chennai Super Kings. During his innings, Raina hit 11 fours and 3 sixes. Raina needed 5 runs to complete the century on the last ball of the innings but he could only hit a four.
2. Virat Kohli
Indian captain Virat Kohli has been a part of the Royal Challengers team since the first season of IPL. From 2008 to 2015, Virat’s IPL made a lot of noise with the bat. But during this time he could never score a century. Then in the year 2016, he scored 4 centuries in a single season. However, there was an occasion before that when Virat had missed out on scoring a century by just 1 run.

Virat Kohli scored 99 runs in 58 balls against Delhi Daredevils while playing for RCB in IPL 2013. On the last ball of the innings, Kohli needed 2 runs to complete the century. He ran and completed one run but could not complete the second run and was run out.
3. Chris Gayle
West Indies’ swashbuckling batsman Chris Gayle had a big contribution in making IPL such a successful T20 league. He has entertained the audience a lot with his fast batting. He is currently a part of the Punjab Kings team. The name of Universe Boss Chris Gayle also comes in the list of batsmen who could not complete the century by reaching the score of 99. With Gayle, this incident has happened 2 to 2 times. And with him both the times it happened while playing for Punjab Kings. For the first time in IPL 2019, playing for Kings XI Punjab (now Punjab Kings) scored an unbeaten 99 in 64 balls against his old team RCB.

When Gayle was on the score of 95, then 2 more balls were to be bowled in the innings. No run was scored on the 5th ball of the last over of Mohammad Siraj. Gayle hit a four on the last ball and thus missed out on scoring a century by just 1 run. For the second time in IPL 2020, while playing for Punjab Kings, Gayle was dismissed for 99 runs in 63 balls against Rajasthan Royals. Jofra Archer clean bowled him on the fourth ball of the last over. Gayle got so angry after this that he threw his bat on the field itself.
4. Prithvi Shaw
Team India’s young talented batsman Prithvi Shaw plays for the Delhi Capitals team in the IPL. Prithvi’s responsibility in the team is to make the powerplay overs big with his quick batting. He has often been seen doing this work in IPL. In a match against Kolkata Knight Riders in IPL 2020, Prithvi hit 6 fours in 1 over of Shivam Mavi. However, this right-handed batsman has not been able to score a century in the IPL till now. Once the earth had reached very close to the century. But he got stuck on the score of 99 runs and could not complete the century.

Playing for Delhi Capitals in IPL 2019, he scored 99 runs in 55 balls against Kolkata Knight Riders. During this, 12 fours and 3 sixes came out of his bat. When he was on the score of 99.
